WHAT IF WE HAD UNPROTECTED SEX?
If you’ve had unprotected sex, accidentally or otherwise, and you’re getting worried, you’ve come to the right place, read on.
Act fast. Emergency contraception must be taken within 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex. It is most effective if it is taken within the first 24 hours after unprotected sex. Speak to your healthcare provider, they are there to help. You should not see emergency contraception as a regular contraceptive or use it like one. Protect yourself from accidental pregnancy by informing yourself of the contraceptive methods and speaking to your healthcare provider.
STIs won’t just go away on their own so even if you’re not sure if you’re infected, after unprotected sex, get tested. Learn more about STIs.
